Beach-setup specifics

About 20% of our westside bookings are direct beach setups. How they work:

• Sand placement — we use stabilizer plates that distribute weight evenly on sand. Letters stay upright even in light wind.
• Tide timing — we coordinate setup 90–120 minutes before high tide window at Santa Monica, Will Rogers, El Matador. Letters stay dry.
• Golden hour — warm white pairs with the 7-8pm June sunset. Cool white pops against a blue-hour sky after 8pm.
• No outlets needed — batteries run 8–10 hours, enough for full ceremony through sunset reception.
• Permits — for formal events on public beach, the city of Santa Monica requires an event permit. We'll advise on which zone of beach avoids permit hassle for intimate setups.

• Palisades cliff homes — we handle the downhill descent safely; our team has done it countless times.
• Venice bungalows — street parking, we use rolling dollies.

Beach & coastal logistics

For Santa Monica Beach, Will Rogers State Beach, Venice Beach: we park at PCH-side lots and use sand dollies for 3–10 minute hauls to setup. Tide timing is critical — we schedule delivery 90–120 minutes before high tide so letters stay dry. Palisades cliffside homes: brake-dollies for the downhill descent, our crew has done it many times.

Permit note

For public-beach events (≥30 guests or amplified sound) the City of Santa Monica requires an event permit. We advise on beach zones that avoid permit hassle for intimate setups (proposal, small ceremony). Malibu and LA County beaches have separate permit regimes.
